Jonathan is a builder, investor, and advisor at the frontier of AI, with 20+ years building and scaling global technology organizations. Today he builds new products and invests in and advises early-stage startups across Generative AI, cloud infrastructure, and developer tools. He also serves as Senior Director of Engineering at Databricks, where he leads the teams turning Databricks into an application platform — making it dramatically easier for customers to build, deploy, and run applications directly on their data and AI.
Before this, Jonathan spent 14 years at Amazon. He founded two companies — both successfully acquired — before joining through the acquisition of his cloud startup in 2012, then grew the Berlin Development Center from its first AWS teams to 2,600+ employees, holding P&L ownership for 14 AWS services in Developer Tools and Generative AI as managing director across three legal entities in two countries. His most recent work at Amazon included launching Amazon Q Developer (now Kiro) and spearheading Agentic AI initiatives at AWS. His focus throughout: how Generative AI and agentic systems are reshaping software development and transforming how companies build products and operate at scale. He is a frequent speaker at conferences including AWS re:Invent, WeAreDevelopers, and GITEX.
